"I took this image at the Colours of Malaysia Festival 2008, in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Malay dancers are performing an ‘orang asli’ (aborigine in Malaysian) routine dance in front of the Palace of Justice building. Almost 1,500 dancers from different races participate in these annual events."

Why this won:
Yaman’s creative flash technique has brought this image alive. By using a burst of fl ash to freeze some of the movement, he’s managed to create a sense of fl uidity into the shot, and that adds to the atmosphere. It also helps that the composition is so dynamic and that the bright colours in the dancers’ costumes blend into each other, adding extra spice to the shot.
